Can we replace windows and doors in the winter months?

Yes, we work year around. Snow is typically not a problem. We shovel where we need too. On windy days, we try to stay out of the wind and will typically work in temperatures to about 10 above zero.

Do we need to be home during installation?

You are more than welcome to be there. Many people let us in at the beginning of the day and go on with their regular schedule. Many times people will give us a code or a garage door code. We typically lock the house when we leave at the end of the day.

What are your typical payment terms?

Usually there is a small deposit due with the signing of the contract. The balance is due upon completion of the work.

Do you remove and dispose of all debris and old windows and doors?

Complete cleanup and disposal of debris/old windows/old doors is Included in the price. Typically debris is picked up and hauled away daily.

Can I expect a big mess?

No. We usually tarp the floors and furniture, and vacuum at the end of each day. Depending on the type of replacement there can be very little mess. We leave your home as clean as possible. At the end of each day we will pickup and dispose of all debris as well as organize the jobsite for the next day. All tools are picked up and put away unless prior arrangements have been made with you.

What is the typical time frame from order to install?

Once the decision has been made and the contract is written, we will place the order for the windows or doors. Most of the window and door companies we deal with have about a 4-6 week lead time before we see the new product. Depending on the time of the year (and our backlog) we are usually setting up installation dates 6-8 weeks after the contract is signed.

Do I have to remove things from my walls? What about curtains?

You will receive a letter from us telling you what to do prior to our arrival for installation. We will normally ask you to remove the things that hang on the exterior walls or things that could vibrate off the walls due to pounding or sawing. We are more than happy to do this for you if you would like. Many times your curtains can remain. It does depend on the type of window installation we are doing and how your curtains are mounted to the window or the wall.

What about my pets?

There are times when it can get a little cool in the house for a short while and it will depend on your pet. Occasionally, the different sounds that come from construction tools will startle some pets but this is normally short term. Many people will move pets into the basement or rooms that we are not working in.
